HELLO!
HELLO!
As a dedicated educator with 14 years of experience, I'm passionate about nurturing young minds and guiding them through their educational journey. My teaching philosophy centers around patience, kindness, and a genuine care for each child's unique needs and potential.
My extensive background includes working with young children, specifically those aged 2-5 years old. In Cleveland, I served as a Lead Teacher at the Heights Learning Center, where I had the privilege of developing a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program within my classroom. This role allowed me to work closely with parents, helping each child thrive precisely where they were, setting realistic goals and challenges tailored to their individual needs. My collaborative approach also contributed to shaping the school's broader educational direction.
Upon moving to Mount Vernon, I further honed my expertise working at East Knox in a Neurodiverse classroom for ages 6-10 years old. This invaluable experience taught me the profound skill of connection and solidified my passion for how I could best support and empower the community through education. Complementing this, for the past four years, I've also proudly served within the Knox County Education Department as an Assistant Teacher, Substitute Teacher, and Substitute Assistant Teacher, working extensively with school-aged children across various settings.
At Mindful Hearts Tutoring, the company I founded, we specialize in providing personalized educational services to K-5th grade children, including those in the autism and ADHD communities. Our approach is holistic and adaptable, ensuring that each child receives the support they need at their own pace while being gently challenged to exceed their baseline goals. By focusing on the client's needs first, Mindful Hearts creates a tailored learning environment that empowers students and fosters growth.
Through our affordable, at-home services, we strive to make quality education accessible to the community, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.
Our mission is to provide your child in grades K-5 with the focused, one-on-one academic support they deserve, right in the comfort of your home. We believe true learning happens when a child feels seen, understood, and unhurried. Guided by compassion and patience, we move at your child's pace to build a strong foundation, boost their confidence, and help them thrive on their own terms, not on a standardized timeline
We envision a world where every K-5 child flourishes academically and emotionally, armed with the resilience and coping skills to confidently navigate life's every turn. We are relentlessly dedicated to unlocking each child's unique potential, creating an environment where they feel seen, celebrated, and deeply understood. We don't just believe in their ability to succeed; we ignite it, empowering them to define and achieve success on their own terms, laying a powerful foundation for a lifetime of well-being and accomplishment
I'm an educator with a passion for helping neurodiverse kids thrive. With a strong background in child psychology, child development, and behavioral training, I bring a wealth of expertise to every session. My goal is to create a learning experience that truly connects with your child, building on their unique strengths and helping them navigate challenges with confidence.
I hold an Associate of Science degree and have pursued extensive additional education and certifications across the education sector. I believe that understanding developmental growth in early childhood is key to effective teaching. That's why I've dedicated a significant part of my training to specialized coursework in Early Childhood Education, giving me deep insights into how young minds learn and grow.
My commitment to your child's success doesn't stop there. I am constantly updating my skills through ongoing certifications and education in Autism, ADHD, and general education. I rely on verified state and government resources to ensure I'm always up-to-date with the best practices. This dedication means I can provide informed, effective support for a wide range of learning needs, giving your child the personalized attention they deserve.
I bring a wealth of experience and specialized knowledge to Mindful Hearts Tutoring, with a particular focus on supporting children with diverse learning styles within typical classroom settings. My goal is to bridge the gap between a child's unique needs and the demands of a neurotypical environment, helping them truly thrive.
My expertise is built upon:
Therapeutic Integration: I have extensive experience incorporating Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy techniques. This allows me to understand and address the sensory and motor challenges that can impact a child's ability to focus, learn, and navigate a classroom, especially for those who are neurodiverse.
Extensive Teaching Background: With 14 years dedicated to educating children aged 3 to 10, I've developed a deep understanding of varied learning styles. This experience has equipped me to recognize individual strengths and challenges, and adapt teaching methods to ensure every child feels seen and understood.
Insight from the Medical Field: My 6 years in the medical field provide me with a unique perspective on how health-related aspects can influence a child's learning and overall well-being. This background allows for a more holistic approach to supporting students, particularly those with diagnoses that impact their learning.
Specialized Certifications for Neurodiversity: I hold certifications in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. These specific qualifications enable me to craft tailored strategies that address the unique cognitive and behavioral profiles of neurodiverse learners, helping them flourish in a neurotypical classroom environment.
I am proficient in tutoring a range of subjects and age groups, always with an eye toward making learning accessible and engaging for all students:
Science: For students 7 years and older.
Reading: For students 4 years and older.
Math: For students aged 4 to 10 years, covering Basic Math and Early Algebra concepts.
